Take a look at Camborne, last night,

Yesterday morning the BBCs maximum forecast for Penzance was 24C, they seem to be losing grip on reality. (MetO forecast was 30C, actual 31C)

So after May shattering old records by a few degrees we're experiencing the same.

If anybody knows what Camborne's previously warmest June night was, I'd be interested to know.

I'm very pleased to say there's a decent breeze this morning, and it's onshore!! Still forecast to reach 29C (MetO) 24C (BBC). I think meteogroup need to go back to the drawing board. A bit like Adrian Newey & Aston Martin.

The north coast will be hotter today, the south (hopefully) 2C or so down.

I stopped my 'official' recordings at the end of 2025, and sold off my sheathed thermometers. My Steveneson screen really needed replacing so it seemed a good time after 35 years of recording in Penzance. My aim had always been to reach 30 years. Sadly, I chose the year when we had Goretti in January, and extreme heatwaves in May & June!

However, my pre 2026 warmest June night was 18.6C 24/06/23. Minimum of 17.3C here on 21/06/17.

It was 17.8 at Camborne on 24/06/2023.  That was their 3rd warmest June night.
