Rain of biblical proportions here in Wembury for last 24 hrs 1800 to 1800.
61.9 mm of which 59 mm fell in 3 hrs 2300 to 0200.
This is a new 24 hr record for Wembury with the record beginning 1986.
My previous record was 60.5 mm on 22nd Dec 2012.

Your part of the world seems to have picked up the heaviest rain a few times this year.

I thought my 34.8mm was a lot! (though it was almost entirely in 90 minutes.)

I do wish people, who should know better, would stop blaming every suitable weather event on climate change. (E.g. David Braine on recent BBC Spotlight) It rather shows an inability to distinguish between climate & weather. You expect it from a journalist. Talking of which te BBC recently carried a report of 6 people who were rescued after being swept off the sea wall at Sennen in the recent big swell. In practice they were jumping off the wall into the harbour  as each wave struck and swimming back to do it again. Those involved are almost invariably local. Perhaps BBC Verify should look into it. Strangely, the many rescues that have taken place at Sennen this year have been ignored. But this gave the BBC an opportunity to act superior and patronising, to produce a 'keep clear of the sea' type report whilst having a camera crew and reporter by the waters edge to show just how dangerous it is.

Sorry, got side tracked.

Penzance (dull, turning mizzly - must be down to climate change & the extra moisture in the air)
