May be the odd exception, but currently close to 30C in Penzance, 29C at Lands End airport, 31C at Newquay, 30C at Lands End. My previous June record being 28.2C back in 1995.

Much of the south coast is clearly free of any sea breeze development. According to XC Weather around 13:00, the warmest spots (at 34C) were Thorney Island, Bournemouth airport, Shoreham airport & Southend. So much for cooling sea breezes, now much more like the May heatwave in that respect.

Even the sea doesn't feel cold, you could stay in for ever. Out at the Penzance bouy it's around 18C, at the Perranporth buoy it's 18.8C. Close in the surface layer is well >20C. Not so much cold water shock (the new phrase craze) as virtually tepid.

It got (and still is) silly hot, or even dangerously hot here. A maximum of 36.0°C and a dewpoint of 27.5°C smashed my previous records by a large margin. The heat index at the time of maximum temperature was showing 48°C. I think dewpoints over 27°C are fairly rare in Europe, possibly Cyprus getting near those figures late summer.

Interesting to see how the surface sea temperatures are racing up this afternoon, started off at 18.6°C this morning, now at 24.2°C. Helped by neap tides, little wind and therefore, little mixing with deeper, cooler waters.

James in Ivybridge was reporting 36°C too.

Its been pretty unbearable here Nick.  Topped 31C here with a dewpoint of 23C and calm conditions. It reached 31C at Lands End, 30C at Lands End airport, on the cliff tops! Not your heat, but similar values to say Cardiff in the red alert area. The BBC FORECASTS 3 days out always looked incredibly low, but were even further out than I expected.Bear in mind the first time 30C was reached in Penzance was when I recorded 30.1 C in 2022. The May heatwave surpassed my previous record by almost 4C, my previous June record 28.4.

Mercifully it dropped below 30C around 18:30.

To have 2 such exceptional spells so close together. Sea temp at the Penzance buoy reached 22C this afternoon, sun and very high humidity to reduce evaporative cooling.

Meant to mention, Cardinham & Bodmin got >32C.

I've been recording weather in Penzance for decades, until 2022 I'd never recorded these sort of temperatures. To record them consecutive months with no sea breeze development! I think only the Camborne area developed a sea breeze worth the name today, which brought in some sea fog and low cloud.

Yes, when I recorded 34.0°C on the 11th August 2022, I'd never thought it would be beaten again in my lifetime. But not just beaten, smashed. And as for dewpoints, they have been creeping up year after year. Just a few years ago, 22°C dewpoints were a rare, brief, once every other year or so event but to record 27.5°C not long after 24°C in May, which beat my previous record of 22.9°C set on 21st July 2021. Exceptional synoptics I've been told with air descending over us from very high above.

Still 30°C at 20:00 with a dewpoint of 24.0°C and calm. Stifling.
