It was a normal 42 degree arc today. The precipitation causing the bow was very distant and way out over the sea. Both my wife and I commented that the bow ("ribbon") seemed significantly wider than normal, perhaps one and half times the width. The precipitation might well have been falling as snow and maybe this is the explanation for the wide "ribbon". The spectrum colours were all normal merely spread wider, i.e. perhaps resulting from an abnormal refractive index
Any better ideas?

????? If you mean because I didn't include my customary picture, the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen is a difficult place to stop for a photo.
