We had a massive hailstorm around 12:30 this morning. Lasted 30 minutes or so and everything was white. It was so extreme I had to get out to look, the noise on the roof was incredible. 14.4mm of rain overnight, probably at least 12mm in that 30 minutes. Similar in St Ives.

Further east in Cornwall there was snow reported. Despite the temperature being 3C or so it was heavy & settled. There was snow reported at 5C. See comments to recent posts here https://www.facebook.com/Kernow.Weather.Team/

At first I was dubious about it being snow, but looks like the real thing. (Photos  St Austell.)

We need to export it to the Scottish ski resorts!

It's been snowing in unusual places eg Cornwall, Morocco and near Los Angeles.

I can't see any media reports. Have you told the Met Office or BBC weather watchers? I saw a report that somewhere in Wales recorded minus 1 C overnight.

I don't bother with the BBC to be honest, they only seem to report weather events that were forecast, as for BBC Spotlight . . .. I find Twitter and the Kernow Weather facebook page the best in many ways for weather reports down here.

scroll down to yesterdays "Good evening Radar update 21.45" There are around 70 comments, many relating to hail & snow, including a video clip in St Austell.

This didn't even justify a local BBC news mention, after all - there was no weather warning in place, so no need.

UKV 2 km model ought to have forecast it.
