I am running low on disk space on my Justop device that run my BL Sun recorder and Davis WMII and run out of things I can remove off the disk.

Looking on Storage Settings (Other) I have:
1.34 GB C:\BLsunrecorder and
1.33 GB C:\Sun Recorder
Looking closely they seem almost identical contents.

Is this correct or is something doubling up here to the point I could delete one of them?

Many thanks

Furthermore looking at the UserGraphics folder, the png file(s) on the'Sun Recorder' folder are really old, whereas the ones on the 'BLsunrecorder' folder are current?

Do I hit the delete button for the Sun Recorder folder. Maybe I'll drop the whole folder onto a usb stick before doing so.

I took the plung after copying 'Sun Recorder' Folder, deleted the whole folder of 1.3 GB, and it seems to have worked. Fingers crossed.

Hi Keith,

I actually knew Alan Blake, he lived around 4 miles from me. Sadly he passed away a year or so back.

It was originally called just "Sun Recorder". Designed by himself & Olaf Larsen. They sold it to Wittich & Visser on the basis they referred to it as the Blake Larsen Sun Recorder ( https://wittich.nl/en/product/blake-larsen-sun-recorder/ )

This change of name probably explains the file duplication

Thanks for the reply Graham.

Could be something like that that doubled it up. It seems to be working fine now.

I have now also removed old versions on the operating system so now have 2.78 GB free space.

Nick Gardener also replied on uk.sci.weather.

I am now trying to find a way that I can automatically upload the png files to my website the the BL system produces that show daily, monthly and yearly graphs, but this maybe a bit beyond me.

Many thanks

I am presuming you upload files to your website via a FTP software such as FileZilla? Or you use the software suppplied by the company that provides your web hosting space. Many of these offer automated FTP software which will then automatically upload selected files to your website without you having to manually do it. I've just checked and my old version of Davis WeatherLink (6.0.3) has embedded FTP software that will upload your files to a website/server at intervals chosen by you. This should allow you to upload the BLsunshine png files every hour, 3 hours or daily etc.

The WeatherLink FTP software for uploading files to a website/server is under 'Setup' then 'Internet Settings'. You need to know your website host's ftp address (assume you will know this as I see that you upload to you website regularly), your username and password. You can select the directory containing the BLsunshine png files and the upload frequency and where on your website your want the files loaded to. All pretty straightforward. Then edit your website to show the graphs within your website and you're done.
