French record high temperature on 28th June 2019, originally reported as 45.9°C, has been revised upwards to 46.0°C.
Highest temperature reported from the AWS network of Météo-France during the extreme heat of 28th June was 45.9°C at Gallargues-le-Montueux (Gard).
After analysis and checking of later reports from about 800 manual climate stations, it appears that the highest temperature recorded on that day was actually 46.0°C at Vérargues (Hérault), about 10 km west of Gallargues

France is now 6th in the ranking of European countries as regards highest recorded temperatures. The others are Greece (48.0°C), Portugal (47.4°C), Spain (47.3°C), Italy (47.0°C) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (46.2°C).
