A warmer N. Atlantic in October

It seems from comparing the monthly anomalies of SST for 2016 and 2017 that the N. Atlantic is warmer this year.
What could this mean for our coming winter?

Len you must have been reading my mind - I was going to knock an article about the latest state of the SST in the Atlantic for my blog later this week.
I guess it's probably down to the north south thermal gradient in the central Atlantic as much as anything else.
Here's an extra bit of detail.
