Some pleasant sunshine after recent dull or mizzly conditions. Bit milder yesterday (10.4C) minimum of 3,4C last night.
A great mystery (other than why it's popular.)
Why is "Beyond Paradise" pretend to be filmed in Devon, when it's all filmed in Cornwall. Even more, why does all the publicity say it's in Devon. E.G.
"We knew that we needed it to be very beautiful – somewhere that felt a bit different and somewhere that had similarities to Saint Marie, but also had a personality and its own cultural history. Very quickly, South Western England – and Devon in particular – felt like the right fit. We took it there and it was one of those things where once you make that decision, everything just starts to fall into place."
Apparently, Devon, with it's quite rural, non industrial, middle class feel (away from Plymouth clearly) is much more suited to the 'target audience' (Escape to the Country loving tea drinkers in tilting armchairs) than the more industrial fun loving Cornwall with hundreds of derelict mines, the industrial urban sprawl of Camborne/Redruth, the surfy culture & party / hen night towns of St Ives & especially Newquay, the end of the line feel of Penzance. They had to perpetuate the image in the publicity.
But . . what happens when they serve a cream tea, or someone calls a pasty a Cornish pasty, when most of the boats are registered in Looe (where it's filmed). It'll be watching out for St Piran's flags
http://penzanceweather.atwebpages.com/wpage3.html and seeing whether they've sprayed golden Cornish sands a Paignton red.
Still, good to know they couldn't find anywhere in Devon to live up to the hype.
