Last week's storm was not officially named Doris as far as I am aware. Yet I have read many reports in the media, especially newspapers and online, where it is called Doris regardless. So the public now know it as Doris. So what happens when and if the next big storm comes along and UKMO decide to call it Doris?
The public will think the UKMO have gone crazy. Total confusion. This naming of storms will be flawed. Hoisted by their own petard.

It always was flawed, IMHO. Either don't name any (the Germans do it already, for starters) - or do what the Germans do and name every single one. That way the next one can't be confused with Doris....!
