A week ago the BBC forecasts (indeed virtually all forecasts) indicated it being much colder by the end of the week. David Braine was showing 6-7C by the weekend. It was 13.0C @ 09:00 today. Now a week on from the 'much colder weather about to arrive' forecasts we've still not had any below average temperatures for the whole month. Except the 12th when it dropped to 4.3C, but still rose to a near normal 12.4C, the lowest max so far.

I've noticed a tendency for models to be over enthusiastic about the onset of a cold northerly spell, especially in the south. The northerly normally arrives, but a few days late.

In this case it's now likely to be very short lived, as the MetO is now forecasting 14C for Penzance next Saturday.

Some welcome sunshine yesterday.

I agree.
Also, Met Office are forecasting an air frost for here on Wed and Thurs night.
BBC are keeping the min temperature at +2°C

Heavy rain bursts here this afternnon.
First significant rain (ie above 5 mm) since 20th Oct.

It was certainly well predicted here.  But forewarned doesn't mean that I am enjoying it any better.

I have just read a short book about the evolution of Homo sapiens.  Most of us have a small percentage (1% to 4%) of Neanderthals in our DNA.  Neanderthals were apparently well adapted to cold climates.  On that score, my Neanderthal percentage must be close to zero.  My wife on the other hand tolerates cold far better.  Neanderthal +++%.  (She's from Ireland, so what would you expect?)
