These ripples are not unusual but until I happened to catch them on TIME LAPSE this morning 23 June, I had never really appreciated that they are moving.  Hence, they are unlikely to be [standing] mountain waves.

Any thoughts about the reasons?  Time lapse covers 30 minutes in 30 seconds.  Direction of camera SSE (approx 155º)

Another view.  Camera aiming high to the north (almost to zenith).  15 minutes.

Altostratus undulatus or stratocumulus undulatus.
'Ripples' caused by wind shear across the cloud layer.
A bit similar to the pattern you sometimes see in the sand on a beach.
