Tuesday afternoon forecast - AS far as SW England is concerned, back to being just a west & north Cornwall event. The railway line at Dawlish will be in relative shelter. Another big battering for the prom. Swell height im meters.
So Goretti (storm force winds) Ingrid (damaging sea), now Chandra. At least Chandra's winds will not be remotely like Goretti - I'm very pleased to say. But the swell will be quite something tomorrow out at Praa Sands & Porthleven. Tomorrow mornings high tide in Mount's Bay is forecast to be 0.9m above astronomical levels, which is quite something,
The flood warning
"Areas particularly at risk include Mousehole, Newlyn, Penzance, Longrock, Marazion, Praa Sands and Porthleven harbour. The high tide at Newlyn on Tuesday is at 10:33, times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 1.64mAOD. Expect tide levels along the coast to be between 0.8 and 0.9 metres above tide table level. Strong Force 8 South Westerly winds and offshore wave heights of around 7.5m are forecast over the high tide."
Stormy start to the year!
