Under these syboptic conditions, the wind right on the tip of Cornwall is nearly always a good deal stronger than the forecast, or what the synoptic chart might suggest, due to the affect on the flow of the peninsula.

It's currently a F6 just off Lands End, and this is Sennen.

It's a long long time since it's been quite like that. A combination of empty car car park & beach, salt covered camera, totally blown out etc. Equally, conditions tend to be a lot better than forecast in a SW.

Also, temperature in Penzance at 09:00 14.3C, the lowest since early June.

Sheltered in Penzance mind you.

Just round the corner really.

Forecast 'feel like' temperatures for Penzance and Sennen 1C different, they are worlds apart.

Turned into a beautiful, sunny if cool afternoon. Couple of photos from around 2-2:30pm. Over the nearby moors & view from Geevor Mine on the north coast.

Sunshine's actually still doing OK, despite the unsettled weather. Sunshine figures for Bosullow, which is only 1 mile from where the top photo was taken. 30 day running total still >200 hours.

It was bleak on the north coast early this morning though.
