It might be  6 or 7 weeks ago that 100mph winds hit west Cornwall, but the clearup, out of town centres, has barely started.

Pictures from lanes just 1 mile behind Penzance (Heamoor) taken today.

On the road to Lands End (the main A30) many trees down between Penzance and Drift, associated with this are landslides which are worsening. The trees held the steep slopes together. The hill is now slipping onto the westbound lane, whilst the eastbound lane is perilously close to slipping ground. The barriers at the edge of the road are disappearing into the abyss All that's ben done so far are laying out of cones & warning signs.

In Penzance the garndstand at the Cornish Pirates rugny ground needs a total rebuild. Places like Peacocks, that had their roof blown off, are unlikely to re-open.

Not a penny from the government. 4 days after the event, when 1000s still had no power, network connection, broadband or water, a government minister stood up in the Commons and essentially said everybody had done a great job, only a few properties were without power. It was basically sorted.  Perhaps at some point they'll u-turn and admit a bit of damage was done.
