Good morning.

Eagan Robotics is in full gear with both the FTC and FRC teams in the middle of their seasons.  Really an exciting time.  So proud of our FTC teams and looking forward to a great FRC year.

Everyone is really busy right now, but I was hoping we could carve out a little time to develop some plans around WIRED.  I think we agree there is more we could be doing to support and inspire our existing female students as well as recruit/inspire future female students and mentors.

I'd like to propose some dates for a meeting either in January or early February.  We've had a few different suggestions.  One idea is to have a brief meeting at Eagan High School on a regular robotics night.  The other was to get away from Eagan in a more casual environment.  I'd like to suggest my new favorite Eagan spot:  Cupcake Bakery/Mason Jar Restaurant:  https://www.cup-cake.com/   (If you haven't been there already, I cannot recommend it highly enough!)

Let us know what you prefer by completing this Doodle:

Look forward to hearing back from you and look forward to getting together soon. There are some great ideas out there.  You could be a part in making them happen!

Thanks,

Candace

Hi Candace,
We were just there this morning and had a great time.  I saw the big corner booth and thought of WIRED.  Perfect idea!  You rock!

Thank you to all who responded to the "Doodle" about which night to have our next WIRED meeting.

The clear winner is Tuesday, Feb. 28th from 7 to 8 p.m.  Since it's a Tuesday, a Robotics night, I was proposing we'd meet at Eagan High School for the folks who are straddling build season demands and WIRED.  Sure appreciate your dedication!  Next time, we'll for sure go to Cupcake.  (I'm writing this email from there :))

So, please put Tuesday, Feb. 28th 7 to 8 on your calendars.  I'll be in touch about which room but let's assume that we have room 80.    And anyone who can stay longer is very welcome to do so.    Looking forward to having some conversation around supporting our female students.

And anyone who has NOT let me know if they can attend on the 28th is invited to do so.  We sure would benefit from your input.

Thanks, everyone.

Candace

Good evening,

Just a quick reminder of our WIRED meeting scheduled for this Tuesday, Jan. 28th from 7 to 8 p.m. at Eagan High School in Conference Room D.  I'll have signs to help direct you upstairs.

I'll also send an agenda around tomorrow night, so look for that.

Thanks much for all your support and interest in WIRED.  We sure have a lot to talk about!

Until then, stay warm...or at least try to :).

Good evening,

Attached is the agenda for the WIRED meeting tomorrow night.  We won't have time to discuss all the topics but we'll try to get through the important ones.

See most of you tomorrow night.

Thanks so much.

Hi Candace,

I am so very sorry but as you can tell I am still at work this evening and unfortunately I will not be leaving in time to make it to the meeting.  I remain very much interested in participating with WIRED so please do not give up on me.  My industry is a cyclical one and the first three months of the year are always the most insane and often come with very long work days.

I will look forward to seeing how I can contribute through upcoming events and future meetings.

Again, my apologies for not being able to attend.

Warmest regards,

Christy

Completely understood.   This is a challenging time for most businesses,  as well as our own robotics teams!

I'm writing up minutes right now and will circulate those around.

No worries.   Lots of upcoming opportunities to get involved!

Thanks much for the notice but most importantly, your continued interest.

Candace

Good evening,

Thanks to all who attended the WIRED meeting tonight.  I thought it was a very productive meeting with lots of great plans/decisions made.  The input from the female students was invaluable.  You ladies impress us every time we meet.  Can't wait to see where you all land later in life.  Really.

Please find the minutes from the meeting attached.  If you have any corrections or suggestions, please let me know.  (Christina, please use this for Chairman's but if you need more, don't hesitate to contact me.  We did do female outreach at the Streets Alive event last summer which resulted in for sure one female FTC member joining.  And you know about the November 20th St. Thomas SWE event.  I can get you the minutes from that meeting too, as I need to send that to everyone too anyway.)

Please note all the "ACTION PLANS" in the minutes and look for your names as to what you agreed to do. Those who did not attend will want to look at those notes too as your name may appear for follow up.

I'll be in contact about future dates/plans.  Look forward to putting some of these great ideas into action.

Thanks again for all your input and support.  Stay warm!

Candace

Good morning,

As promised, I'm sending around the notes I took from the presentation by two female engineering students from St. Thomas University Society of Women in Engineering (SWE).

I thought they had great advice not only for female students but ALL students.  If you have anything to add to these notes, let me know.  Otherwise, I plan to send them around to all the female students later tonight.

Thanks much,

Candace
