Hey there.

I'm circling back around to see if our WIRED group is able to pull together a meeting and also to give you some updates.

Thank you to all who responded to my email after the 9-24-13 (see the questions below if you still wish to respond).  Seemed universal that everyone felt a bit overwhelmed by all the meetings at the beginning of the school year and several of you suggested holding off on our next meeting.  Point taken.  Hope we can look at November.

Just wanted to catch up on a few things that have happened since we met.

1.  I met with Mr. Lynch who said he would like to see at least one female event before the FRC Build Season begins.  As you should have seen by now, Eagan Robotics had received a gracious offer by the St. Thomas Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to form a partnership with our female students.  Hearing this, Mr. Lynch was thrilled and advised that we pursue this relationship and take them up on their offer to come, using their visit as the pre-Build Season event.

2.  So, you should have been copied on an email I sent earlier tonight asking our female students to let us know their availability to meet with SWE.  I suggested Wednesday, November 13th; Tuesday, November 19th and Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m.  There isn't anything on the Team calendar on these dates so hoping one night might work.

3.  I was wondering if the group could possibly hold our next WIRED meeting on the same night we host the SWE visit.  Invite the St. Thomas students to join us?  Perhaps, take them to ZEST in Eagan from 7:150 to 9?  (Jenny made a great suggestion that we hold our meetings at a more fun location since many of you spend so much time at EHS already.)  See this link for more information about ZEST:

4.  Mr. Lynch also suggested we approach the most senior FRC females to be our WIRED student leads. I asked Taegan and Christina (copied here.)  And they graciously accepted.  Thank you, ladies!  (Theresa, can you add them to our WIRED Google Group?)

We will have a lot to talk about at our next meeting, including adult mentor leadership roles for WIRED, female student survey results, the Booster Club approved WIRED budget (thanks, Rita!) and future goals/plans.  Please send me your agenda items, and as your interim scribe and organizer, I'll be happy to add them.

Thanks again.  Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Earlier email asking for feedback from WIRED members:

1.  Do we want to have regular WIRED meetings?

2.  If so, how often and when works well for you?  What would be a next meeting date?

3.  Who wants to remain involved?

4.  Do we want to recruit more WIRED members since many of the WIRED group are already obligated to other work?

5.  Who should be the target student audience for recruitment right now?  (High school?)

6.  Should WIRED have a female high school recruitment event?  If so, when?
