Hey Friends!
BAMM.tv, a media production, licensing and distribution company located in San Francisco's SOMA district, is calling for artist submissions for a new digital media show. We specialize in broadcasting live music and art events to various online portals, and while our primary focus is recording and distributing music/video, we pair our live events with relevant gallery openings.
On February 16th, BAMM.tv Studios will host the 21st Birthday party for The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). The show will celebrate EFF's efforts in internet policy-making and new media by turning our studio into a digital playground of art and experimentation. We're calling for any and all submissions of work concerning new media/technology, or the internet. The call is general to allow for a wide variety, and we aren't picky as to the nature or intentions of the pieces, besides that they should be interesting for geeks, nerds, or the playfully-minded.
About EFF:
"From the Internet to the iPod, technologies are transforming our society and empowering us as speakers, citizens, creators, and consumers. When our freedoms in the networked world come under attack, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the first line of defense. EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990 — well before the Internet was on most people's radar — and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today. From the beginning, EFF has championed the public interest in every critical battle affecting digital rights.
Blending the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists, EFF achieves significant victories on behalf of consumers and the general public. EFF fights for freedom primarily in the courts, bringing and defending lawsuits even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations. By mobilizing more than 61,000 concerned citizens through our Action Center, EFF beats back bad legislation. In addition to advising policymakers, EFF educates the press and public.
EFF is a donor-funded nonprofit and depends on your support to continue successfully defending your digital rights. Litigation is particularly expensive; because two-thirds of our budget comes from individual donors, every contribution is critical to helping EFF fight — and win — more cases."
Please check out the attached pictures of our studio space and gallery. While there is a contained exhibition area, we are very interested in expanding the show into the rest of our awesome studio, which has plenty of wall (and projection) space, super high ceilings and a mezzanine. This is a great opportunity to experiment in a larger setting.
If interested and available to submit on such short notice, please email Je...@bamm.tv or Ma...@bamm.tv for more information. Deadline for submissions is February 8th, 2011.
Thanks,
Jeff LaPenna, BAMM.tv // Media Director
