notsure what it is about the style of hat aamir wears in this, rangeela, and andaz apna apna but when he has it on i am in love with him but otherwise could not care less about him?? anyway this was an adorable hangout movie, the humor/action was ok but the songs and romantic love-hate bantering are magical. as usual obsessed with mahesh bhatt's use of lighting and color and pooja bhatt's hair!!

today i was struck by a thought, when i die, i will never see pooja again. that thought wrecked any motivation i had to do something normal with my evenings. it's just pooja i want, again and again and again.

i want this movie to be my life so utterly desperately and it'll never happen so all i can do is live vicariously through the characters' constant amusement with life and each other by instead being constantly amused by this movie

this movie reminds me what it is to be alive and to chase joy and to be the messy bitch we all are. throw the picture of your ex in the fire as you admit you fell in love with this rude man over 3 days! DO IT!

All my favourite fanfic tropes executed excellently in a film with beautiful lighting, and an electric Pooja Bhatt playing a feisty yet deranged teenager who is finally learning the ways of the world by being lost with a guy who seems so unlike her and yet they just fit together... my rom-com lover self and my 90s Bollywood self were both soaring!!

i couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of this because my life sucks and i only live for pain, but that's not true because I LIVE FOR POOJA. gorgeous, stunning, unreal, ethereal, my favorite favorite favorite girl!!!

this movie is so charming and vivid and i just love that neither of them are particularly nice people, but they're reliable when it counts, which is a personality type i relate to. i am also charming and vivid and bratty and stubborn.

8th watch done, and may I say, Pooja gets more beautiful every time. I revisit this movie after watching more pixellated Pooja movies. every time, I want to watch this so many times that I memorize every frame in which her face is moving.

"kyun marna? marna nahin!" (context: when the bad guys are after them, Raghu makes up a fake plot where the bad guys think he's dead and then he'll ambush them. Pooja doesn't understand it's a pretend death... hence this gem of a line.) I laugh every time.

this is only my second full paying-attention watch (instead of staring at Pooja's face and skipping the ending) and I don't think I understood on my first watch that they actually really care about each other quite quickly. during my first watch, she seemed to suddenly fall for him due to the fear of absence, and he seems to just be mean to her throughout the film.

Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin is not a film, it's a memory. For the 90s kid in us, it's one film we can binge watch without flinching. Even when we know what the actors will mouth next, the love for this film never subsides. An unofficial remake of Raj Kapoor's Chori Chori which too was adapted from Hollywood film It Happened One Night, DHKM had beautified our childhood years with some of the best songs ever in the album.
