Hi everyone,

We have some news for the next Wind Empowerment conference. The exact date and location is not fixed yet, but it will be around November/December in the South of India.

What's new is that this year, before the week of presentations and discussions, we are planning to run a hands-on training week with a range of sessions, including sessions offered by each Working Group. These training sessions are expected to last between some hours and a full day, with around 50 participants and 1-2 instructors.

So we want to ask you, what do you think should be included in the Delivery Models training session? Who should be the instructor? And how can we make the training interactive?

Some ideas we have with Guillermo are to do a practical workshop to transfer tools for identifying Productive Uses for rural electrification experiences. We can generate something interactive, request information that participants should investigate before the conference, to then work on own experiences (the characteristics of the rural economy-context-domestic, etc), and then share methodological tools to make a preliminary identification of productive uses.

Another idea may be the elaboration of the manual of delivery models. It would be like a joint tool and transfer of socio-community diagnostic tools, monitoring and control of projects ("social impacts"), etc.

Waiting for your ideas!

Cheers,

Katerina

Hello,

The ideas so far are:

- Presentation and elaboration of a Delivery Models methodology (if the DM manual is developed until then, it will help a lot). We can take participants through an Initial community diagnosis methodology, define which issues should be investigated and addressed during a project, share best practices and lessons learnt from past experiences, present a methodology for project monitoring and post-installation assessment.
- Workshop on identification of Productive uses of wind in rural areas ( "We can generate something interactive, request information that participants should investigate before the conference, to then work on own experiences (the characteristics of the rural economy-context-domestic, etc), and then share methodological tools to make a preliminary identification of productive uses." )
- Using Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis as a tool to assess small wind turbines from the point of view of different stakeholders and to communicate the potential sustainability of solutions, especially with policy actors.

I include in the discussion Jon, as he has the most experience in the first topic, Jorge, who I know is interested in productive uses, and all the Exec board group, for extra feedback.
We would be happy if more people than Guillermo and me would join to deliver this training course.

Cheers,
Katerina
