I am quite partial to the idea of a Modhammer of Doom that kicks you
out of the game.
Carry on!
I can see some possible groupings coming along:
*fwap*
<fish><
<GRANG><
Pie Card
Cheese Card
Pineapple Card
Avocado Card
Meat Card
Tofu Card
Types of actions Keeping them rather generic at this point):
- Spam (rapidly acquiring post points while blocking others from
posting (their turns)
- Hijack (ignoring what rules are currently in place and doing some
action to your own advantage)
- Ban the Troll (enough is enough. You get a time out)
- Suck-Up ("I read/watched/heard/ate that too. I totally agree" = earn
as many points as the last person did / avoid penalty that rest of
group gets)
- Argumentive Counterpoint (reverses game player flow so the person
after you misses their turn.)
- MEAT (worthless card but at least it works and I get it out of my
hand without penalty)
- new thread cards (new goals to acquire/deplete hand or win game)
- 404 NOT FOUND (you can't post. Ha-ha!)
More colorful cards:
- FWAP! (pick a card from your hand and give them one of your crappy
ones)
- PIE (you very well won the game with these cards)
- <GRANG!>< (I don't like what you just did, therefore, it doesn't
effect me)
- HITLER (everything devolves into a Hitler argument, so I get 50% of
everyones your post points)
- FLAME WAR (a one on one showdown; both peopl draw a random card,
high card is bold, low card is trolled)
- MAVIS BEACON (I type better than you, so I can post faster, 2x
points for next three turns)
- POST ASSOCIATION THREAD (players say words associated with each
other, first person that pauses stops the increasing post count bonus,
person before gets it)
- I HATE MIMES (player has 30 seconds to describe something all
players can see without pointing, failure = loss of post points for
everyone)
- FANTASY SPORTS (paper rock scissors - type of minigame. Winner gains
points from losers)
- SNARK ATTACK! (everyone throws their worst unplayable card at an
unsuspecting victim; best for when goal is to lose all your cards
first)
of course things can be molded to be more Boardie-centric, but I'm
just typing whatever comes to mind.
don't we need a Fatmouse card of some kind?
a fred the limertilly card - pass onto another player
a martin the angry owl card
a knitting card
a reading card!
a film watching card...
a red balloon as the design on the back of all the cards.
can do something beneficial to another player
And we could have special character cards. As an illustration: in a
Fluxx type game teh character cards could be a special keepers. And
"*vibes*" for example could work only if you have one "character" card
in play.
"Trollslammer" could be a goal card, for example "have a Troll and
Beezee in play" ;)
2-I love all the descriptions and ideas for the cards, it will go a
long way in helping game design, but don't be upset if a card name
gets used in a different manner than you threw out there. The use of
the card is going to be crunched and munched around as the game
mechanics take shape, and will even change as the game testers test
'em. That may be obvious to everyone here, but I don't want people
upset when they see a card not acting like they initially suggested.
3- That said, keep the ideas flowing, this is awesome :)
I love the FATMOUSE card (eat, that is steal, a card from all the
other players?) and the Judge ideas.
Also Wigber invasion (that could be a goal change type card?)
A Secret Rulers of the Board card, obviously. (anybody with a shift/
cafe/rpg thread card in hand must give it up?)
Punkyfins, could you elaborate what you mean by character cards and with
"*vibes*" for example could work only if you have one "character" card"?

Important Question.
How many cards are we envisioning? what's the minimum / maximum number
of cards that makes sense for the start?

In a 4-player game each player could have up to dozen cards in their
hand and there'd still be a decent amount to of fresh cards to use.
2010/2/15 Furious <ensco...@gmail.com>:
(Board crashes.)
CeilingEgg!
And I can see one of the Goals being to win a Boardie by collecting
other cards.

Well, I suppose a year ago it would, but now we'd just migrate to
facebook or twitter for a while. :)
I remember as a kid seeing this French film called 'The Red Balloon'
and
*spoiler*
near the end when the balloon gets stomped on it upset me.
THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME OF MY EMOTIONAL SCARS.
:p
Or better yet, everyone dumps their hand into a pool and the cards get
re-distributed!
You keep the Keeper cards that you've played, but everythign else goes
to hell. Maybe even make people switch their seating.
