Hi guys. It Furi!

The first live meeting will be through Google Chat (you can acess it
via Gmail) on Saturday, February 13th at 1pm EST.

The biggest topic of the meeting will be to organize Art/Design and
Game Mechanics/Writing subgroups and determining where to start.
People can be involved in either group or both.

Past meeting minutes will be summarized and posted in their own
threads.

Group members can start their own posts, but please keep them relevant
and on-topic.

If I see excessive spam (from marketing trolls), I may be forced to
make this a private Group and restrict membership, so please bookmark
this site.

I'd like to implement Wave for a realtime whiteboard during meetings,
but the program isn't ready for what we need.

So start brainstroming ideas and see you Saturday!

I won't be able to attend, I'll be out of town, but I'm interested in
participating in some way. Likely on the writing side of things, and/
or being a sounding board for game mechanics.

Good idea Chuck. I'll start a new thread to explain it.

So what happen at the Feb 13th meeting?

Besides me throwing a fit because of 'Net issues (I ended up
installing Messenger at a beatnik cafe and was still kicked off every
10 minutes or so), the -

"We have reached a tentative agreement in the first meeting:

52 regular playing cards + 20 (or so) action cards, to be increased if
we wish

The regular playing cards will not be cards of Boardies (so no
"Furious Card") though allusions to Llamas etc. are welcome. "

Meeting discussions that ran over onto the Board are focusing on a
card game similar to Fluxx, where the goals and rules differ every
hand.

JP has volunteered to lead the Game Mechanics Sub-group, so with him
and Mel running Art & Design, we have the trifecta of brains, talent,
and charisma facilitating the Project.

After the meeting there was a lot of backchannel chat and the current
push right now is to go simply with a Fluxx-style game and not try to
incorporate a regular playing deck into the mix. The thinking behind
the decision is that just choosing one or the other will avoid clutter
on the card faces, and that at the end of the day it would just be too
much to design with both. That said, I suppose it's still possible to
incorporate a standard 52 in there somehow, but I think that needs to
be worked out in the design/art side as to whether it's feasible or
not. From a game mechanics standpoint we're focused on Fluxx.

Another reason for going the full Fluxx route is because I see so many
people with so many ideas and such a rich WE lore that it should be
quite easy to get a complete Fluxx card game with all of our ideas,
rather than just 20 or so "special cards"
