The Summer College Program will be open exclusively to College Program
Alumni, thereby bringing back Cast Members who are experienced program
participants and Disney Cast Members.
Alumni who participate in the Summer College Program will return to the
line of business in which they worked during their prior program, if
there's a labor need, thereby decreasing the need for extensive
on-the-job training. Those Alumni who worked in lines of business for
which we are not recruiting may be offered a role in a different area.
Program participants will be housed in College and International
Program housing, and transportation to and from work and other local
areas of interest will be available to them. Participants will be paid
at the College Program rate, which increased in December 2004. The
current rate is $6.25 an hour, and College Program Cast Members now are
eligible for more premium pay, depending on their role.
College Recruiters will be on the road from February-April to hire
applicants for the Summer Program, as well as the Fall and Fall
Advantage programs.
Here are some frequently asked questions and answers we hope will help
you if you receive questions about the new program.
FAQs about the
Alumni-Only Summer Program
What are the dates of this new Summer Program?
The new Summer College Program will begin in a pilot phase this year.
The arrival for Summer College Program Cast Members is May 16.
Departure dates are Aug. 5 and 19.
Who is eligible to participate?
Only Walt Disney World College Program Alumni are eligible to
participate in the Summer College Program. Participants must be
full-time or part-time students and have completed a Walt Disney World
College Program.
How do Alumni apply for the Summer College Program?
Alumni interested in applying for the Summer College Program should
apply online at wdwcollegeprogram.com after February 4th and attend a
College Program presentation on their campus or at a college nearby.
The recruiting season will begin in February and continue through
April. At that time, recruiters will begin interviewing candidates for
the Summer, Fall and Fall Advantage College Programs.
When will Cast Members be recruited for the Summer College Program?
Walt Disney World College Recruiting will be traveling across the
country from February-April. They will recruit students for the Summer,
Fall and Fall Advantage College Programs.
Is housing available?
Yes. All Summer College Program Cast Members will be housed in one of
our College and International Program housing complexes. In the past,
we have welcomed Walt Disney World College Program Alumni to return to
work in their former locations as seasonal Cast Members for as little
as one week, and they were allowed to stay in our Walt Disney World
College and International Program housing complexes. With the continued
growth of the Walt Disney World College Program, we are no longer able
to accommodate seasonal Cast Members in our housing complexes. Alumni
still are welcome to contact their labor offices to inquire about
available shifts; however, they will be responsible for finding their
own housing.
* Because Summer College Program participants will move into occupied
units, roommate requests cannot be guaranteed.
What lines of business are available?
We are recruiting College Program Alumni to work in the following lines
of business:
Full Service Food & Beverage
Quick-Service Food & Beverage
Custodial
Lifeguard
Merchandise
Operations
Entertainment
Do participants have to work in the same line of business?
If there's a labor need in the line of business where an Alumnus worked
previously, that Cast Member most likely will work in that same line of
business. However, if a Cast Member worked in a line of business that
we are not recruiting for in the summer, such as Hospitality, that Cast
Member may be offered a role in another line of business.
Can participants apply for this program as a back-up plan in case they
don't get the Advanced Internship for which they are applying?
No. Unfortunately, the arrival date of the Summer College Program
precedes the deadline for Advanced Internship applications. Cast
Members will not be able to apply for both. However, they can choose to
apply for an Advanced Internship and also apply for the Fall or Fall
Advantage College Program as a second option in case they are not
chosen for the Advanced Internship role.
Please review the "Advanced Internship Application Process" page for
more information.
Are Summer College Program Cast Members eligible to take Education
courses?
Because of the short duration of the program, Summer College Program
Cast Members will not be able to take part in Walt Disney World College
Program Education classes. However, we encourage them to take advantage
of My Disney Career activities and networking events as well as all
other Disney Learning Center opportunities available to them as part of
the Disney Difference.
