Hi Diane, and all. I am looking for expert help with InDesign.

Since we got Creative Suite 5, and have learnt to use InDesign's
interactive elements - we cannot get Interactive PDFs to work.

Our IT people have reinstalled the software, and told us not to
download any updates - all to no avail. Or downloading all the updates
- still same issue.

What actually happens is when you place buttons on the page, or video,
or other interactive elements - in conversion to interactive PDF these
elements jump off the page or move up the page. I have managed to get
round this with videos, as they still appear off the page in the PDF,
but you are able to grab them, and drag them back to the place they
need to be using Acrobat Professional.

As we are increasingly creating interative PDFs instead of print
publications, this is really crippling our creativity and
productivity.

Can any experts help? I haven't found anything useful online.

thanks

Claudia

Hi Claudia,

Personally I don't use Indesign so can't help but I would ask on the forums here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/indesign/indesign_general?view=discussions

If you get stuck still, let me know and I'll ask some experts behind the scenes I have contact with.

best regards,

Geoff Walker,

Wairarapa,
New Zealand.

Hey Claudia,

are you able to provide a sample InDesign file which has that problem that I could have a look at?

Cheers
Kai

I just opened an interactive pdf I created a while ago in CS4. Saved
it as CS5. Exported as interactive pdf and it seems to work.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/81951/Hospital-Info-Sheet.pdf
The file was a proof of concept so excuse the dead links and dummy
text. That said I don't quite get why there are so few options on the
Export Iteractive pdf dialogue box, unlike CS4 which was essentially
the same deal as a print pdf with the added bonus of interactivity by
checking a couple of boxes.

Hi Kai

I will see if I can provide you with an example. Unfortunately it also
happens when I PDF an InDesign file that was created by someone
outside the organisation, and has worked fine for them, so not sure
the InDesign file will help.
