OK, I'm looking over your Python changes now, so they should be
checked in later this afternoon, at which point I'll upload a 0.2
tarball.

I've been able to remove many of the blind exceptions in pyfits.
There are some left however. You can pull the bleeding edge pyfits
from its svn repository.

I've also submitted a patch to the gflags folks so that the
installation script doesn't ignore the "--home" or "--prefix" flags
anymore at install time. I've been told a change similar to my patch
will be made at some point in the future. You can follow this issue
on their googlecode site if interested.
