Good news/Bad news??

Hello everyone.

The Good News first.  Thanks to Sandy' s persistence and a signed piece of paper, Abigail's has refunded us $123.75 for charging us more than they had originally quoted Sandy. (See financial report below) 

Now the Bad News.??   We now have $165.33 in our account.  What are we to do with that money?  Please give this some serious thought and give us some SPECIFIC ideas as to how you think we should dispose of it.  The sooner we make a decision the happier I will be because I'm anxious to be relieved of the responsibility.  

I did speak with the High School principal the other day to find out if there is a scholarship fund that we might contribute to.  There is no such general or alumni fund.  All scholarships are one time specific.  He did suggest the Hall of Fame but that is primarily based on athletics.   I also checked the Waterloo alumni website but again didn't find anything there. For those of you who belong to that website, it might be worthwhile making a suggestion to institute such a fund.

For those thinking of saving the money for another reunion, I should mention that Steve Smith mentioned that he and Ruth Worden Brown might be interested in being in charge of the 60th. Perhaps they would want to hold the money.  They are both local. Whatever the case, let's see if we can get this finalized.  Looking forward to hearing from everyone and getting the ideas.

Roberta,

So glad the check came.  Now I feel the job is done!

I would say that if Ruth and Steve are thinking about having a 60th reunion, we should give them the money and our support in doing this again.  Having this starter fund should encourage them to go ahead.  Their "new blood" would ensure  another successful reunion, even if our group is smaller.  It doesn't have to be elaborate. To offer to do another reunion shows enthusiasm, so we should let them roll with it.  Should they change their minds, we need to think of other options very soon.  That means getting their commitment  ASAP, and turning over the money pronto.  That would be good news!  Keep us posted.

A start on our next reunion with co-chairs already in place is wonderful news!  Ruthie and Steve, you have my full support.  I would like to help with the 60^t th; I ‘ve certainly enjoyed working with this committee on the 57 th.
