Special Announcement: April tryout opportunity

Hello future WCR skaters: 

I am thrilled to announce that Windy City Rollers is providing a special opportunity to tryout for the league on Saturday, April 14th, 2018! The Windy City Rollers is dedicated to growing and expanding as a league and cannot wait to welcome new faces. 

This opportunity is for anyone who is interested in playing roller derby and/or learning how to skate. You do NOT have to know how to skate or have any prior skating experience to tryout for the Windy City Rollers. In fact, many of WCR's best players laced up skates for the first time in the Windy City Roller's Basic Training program (details on the Basic Training program below). 

Here are the details for Tryouts: 

Saturday, April 14th, 2018 

1:30pm - 3:00pm   

This tryout will be performed entirely OFF-SKATES. The tryout consists of a fitness test (basic fitness movements + cardio exercises), plus an opportunity to sit down with a Windy City skaters who will help answer questions and give more information about our league. 

In order to attend the tryouts, you MUST be able to provide proof-of-insurance.

Upon passing tryouts, you will receive opportunity to join WCR's Basic Training program where dedicated, experienced skaters teach skating skills and safety. Loaner gear (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet, and skates) are available for skaters in the Basic Training program. However, each skater is required to provide their own mouth-guard.

Any woman or gender-expansive person aged 18 years and over may try out for the WCR. 

It is the policy of the Windy City Rollers that we will not discriminate based on a woman's sexual orientation, transgender status, or race. WCR members have a right to maintain their own privacy, without interference from WCR as an organization. We will adhere to all WFTDA rules and regulations regarding inter-league play.
