Dear All
Firstly, a BIG thank you to Helen for coordinating the group so tirelessly for all these years. May this group grow from strength to strength.
Secondly, thank you to all the Museums that have hosted the group and sharing their programmes and the importance of the museums. We all are benefitting enormously from attending these sessions and share what we learn with our staff and learners that visit our museums.
Kind regards

Subject: Wrap up of 2025 and dates for 2026
Dear All
As we head towards the end of the year, here is the wrap-up of our Educator Group year and to please make sure you save the dates for our meetings for next year.
2025 meeting wrap-up
Our Group has had three successful meetings this year:
o Feb meeting was presented and hosted by Herschel Girls School Museum and Archive who told us about their oral history programme and how it worked with free digital tools.
o June meeting was presented and hosted by the Long Walk to Freedom where we all enjoyed DOING their Grade 10 programme and getting acquainted with some important figures from the past.
o Oct meeting was hosted and presented by the Taalmuseum en monument where we shared how to use our collective expertise to help others in the group.
Thanks to all who attended and contributed in so many ways. This Group is what it is because of YOU!
2026 Meetings
For those new to the Group, our meeting topics below are generated by the Group and are always as practical and relevant to education work across content areas/disciplines as possible. Our hosts volunteer to offer us some space and a cup of tea. Sometimes they present too or sometimes they don't, but all our meetings are followed by a tour/taste of what our host offers so we get to know each other's organisations.
Tuesday 17 February: Zeitz MOOCA, Waterfront 1:30pm-3:30pm
The meeting will include a tour of the Albie Sach exhibition Spring is Rebellious. More details to come.
Tuesday 23 June: Online meeting: McGregor Museum's programming/marketing successes, 1:30pm-2:30pm
The McGregor Museum in Kimberley has done some remarkable programming in the last year. Come and hear about the case of the mysterious disappearance of Private Bob who went walkabout from their gallery and more! Dominique McAnda from the Museum will join us online to share more and inspire us.
Thursday 22 October: SAPS Museum, Muizenberg, 1:30-3:30pm
Topic TBC
A HUGE thanks to those who have volunteered to host and present for 2026.
