Hi All

At our last meeting, the School Enrichment Coordinators (SECs) promised to make contact with the Curriculum Advisors in their districts and to make them aware of what we do and to pass along their contact details so we can work more closely with the right people at the WCED, perhaps attend their meetings and perhaps tap into the training held for teachers.

Below are the details I have received thus far - will share as I receive the others:

Cape Winelands: :

GET Coordinator: Edgar Johannes, Tel: 023 348 0605, email: Edgar.J...@westerncape.gov.za

Metro North:

Ludwi...@westerncape.gov.za,  :  MNED Head of Curriculum

Malefo...@westerncape.gov.za  MNED GET Coordinator

Purdon....@westerncape.gov.za  MNED FET Coordinator

Moederic...@westerncape.gov.za  MNED   E – Learning Coordinator

Metro East:

Head of Curriculum : Ms. Ursula Esau – Ursul...@westerncape.gov.za

GET Coordinator      : Mr. Bienjamien Crombie – Benjami...@westerncape.gov.za

FET Coordinator        : Ms. Luzenda Grove – Luzend...@westerncape.gov.za

See: http://wced.pgwc.gov.za/branchIDC/Districts/Districts.html for more contact details and delineation of each district

The idea of clusters of WCME members attending Curriculum Advisor meetings to make them aware of what we offer was floated at our meeting. The SECs felt this is the best way for us to target specific teachers in our content areas and get invited to training opportunities. I have given it some thought and I feel it is a bit hard for me to coordinate given the variety of content areas and districts we cover... So, I leave it in all your capable hands... I have attached the latest WCME Group membership list. So, I would encourage you to look at which of our member organizations match your content area (history, natural science etc.), contact each other and then contact Curriculum Advisors that make sense to that cluster. I think the Fieldtrip Fair demonstrated the power of marketing ourselves as a group. Please keep the group updated on your efforts.

Happy networking!

Helen

Hi Helen,

Am about to tweet the SAMA link.

Have just re-read the offerings at the xcel spreadsheet and our heritage offering is missing; it was there ie Junior Historian Worskhops at selected cultural and natural historical attractions- promoting an appreciation of personalities, events and architecture, structures, landscapes, landscape features, geology, memorials and artefacts eg: military cannon and surfboards.

Asking if you can amend, please.

Regards,

Alan

PS: I have just taken an inventory of all the surfing artefacts on Muizenberg beach front. There are quite a few old surf boards in the shops as well as one early SUP board. The oldest surfboard is c1944 and the shaper is still alive and around and about!
