WCED ePortal Workshop Feedback

At our October virtual meeting, the idea of our Western Cape Museum Educator Group being able to showcase what our member organisations currently offer schools on the WCED ePortal https://wcedeportal.co.za/ was discussed. As has been communicated before, David Leonard, School Enrichment Coordinator, WCED Metro North, linked us up with Elzette Brown who heads up the ePortal and Melissa Bailey from Metro North e-learning and they were enthusiastic and happy to help spread the word on our offerings to schools! 

Today Melissa and Elzette hosted a free online workshop for our WCME group where they showed us the ePortal and demonstrated how to upload resources (worksheets, videos, courses etc.) for teachers, parents or learners directly onto the ePortal yourself. This is free and open to anyone once they are registered. The content is vetted for general suitability and alignment to CAPS and then it is published. 

For those unable to make the workshop or who had to leave early, below is a link sent by Melissa to a folder that contains the recording of the workshop (the first video link) and the resources mentioned during it. Melissa also mentioned that she is available to assist our members if they are having specific issues related to the ePortal and uploading resources. Her contact details are below too as she shared them in the meeting chat. 

In addition to you uploading your resources, a reminder that you can get your organisation's website listed on the ePortal under Learners, Wonderful Websites by sending it to me h_joa...@hotmail.com and I can forward to Elzette. Some of us have already taken advantage of this opportunity. 

In the new year, we will also explore our Group getting a Project page on the ePortal where we can collaborate to show teachers and learners what we all offer all in one place. Watch this space!
