Subject: Workshop Invitation | Accessible and Inclusive Museums for All

Dear Helen

I hope you are well and all geared up for Heritage Month!

We are hosting a workshop on accessibility for blind and visually impaired people in museums and I would greatly appreciate if you'd be able to forward the invitation to the WCME group.
Many thanks in advance!

Workshop invitation poster with red background. Text: 'Accessible and Inclusive Museums for All.' Date: 9, 11 & 12 September, 9:30–13:00, at Iziko South African Museum, Cape Town. RSVP to email provided. Image shows a man with headphones interacting with a tactile exhibit, guided by a woman. Logos for Iziko Museums, Blind SA, and Canon are at the bottom. Tone is informative and inclusive.

Iziko Museums of South Africa and BlindSA invite you to attend our Accessible and Inclusive Museums for All workshop.

The programme, designed for museum curators, educators, and customer service staff, focuses on Braille and accessibility in museums.

The year 2025 marks two significant milestones: the 200th anniversary of the invention of Braille and Iziko’s bicentenary. To mark the occasion, Iziko will host a showcase featuring artefacts from the Antoinette Botha Braille Museum, alongside World Unseen, an exhibition by Canon in partnership with the Royal National Institute of the Blind. World Unseen enables people with sight loss to engage more fully with the visual world while inviting sighted audiences to experience imagery from a new perspective.

We warmly invite you to join us for the workshops, taking place on 9, 11, and 12 September 2025, from 09:30 to 13:00, at the TH Barry Lecture Theatre, Iziko South African Museum.

RSVP: Please email lhend...@iziko.org.za.

For queries, contact +27 74 684 0875.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Best Wishes,

Lindsay Hendricks
