Spring looks to be finally on its way, and it's time to come out of hibernation and join in for some Westborough Community Land Trust events!  Here's what's coming up in April.

 

RAPTORS' STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE

Saturday, April 12, 10AM – 11AM

Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow Street

Falcons. Owls. Hawks …How are these magnificent raptors struggling to survive as their habitat disappears?  Raptor expert and environmental educator Larry Keating from Rulers of the Wind presents live birds of prey in this special Earth Day event.  Sponsored in cooperation with the Westborough Cultural Council.

HELP REPEL INVADERS

Saturday, April 12, 9AM – Noon

Gilmore Farm Road

WCLT will be heading out again to our Gilmore Pond Project to remove invasive plants from this beautiful area.  If you have loppers and work gloves please bring them, but mostly a willing pair of hands.  We will be happy to teach you about the invasive plants on that property and how to identify and remove them on your own land.

APRIL IS EARTH MONTH

April 15

Join our efforts to improve the stewardship of our planet.  By April 15, send Bruce Tretter your suggestions for littered areas in town in need of attention during our May 3 WCLT town-wide clean-up.

BEACH ECOLOGY BY SCOTT SHUMWAY

Tatnuck Bookstore, Westborough
Scott Shumway of WCLT will present a slideshow on the ecology of New England rocky shores and sign copies of his new book "A Naturalist's Guide to the Atlantic Seashore: Beach Ecology from the Gulf of Maine to Cape Hatteras."

EARTH DAY ESSAYS and WCLT 2008 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

Westborough High School Guidance Office

Last day for WHS seniors to submit essays for the WCLT Earth Day Essay Contest and scholarship applications to become eligible for the $500 WCLT Scholarship to be awarded on Graduation Day. Hand in essays and applications to the WHS Guidance Office.
