How does the UE calculate SFN?

The UE uses P-SCH and S-SCH to know the slot boundary, frame bounday
and the scrambling code group of a cell. By trying out, different
scrambling codes in that group, it is able to find the scrambling code
to listen to CPICH as well as PCCPCH. Now on PCCPCH, the MIB is sent
every 8 frames. So the UE knows when SFN mod 8 is 0, there is a MIB
scheduled on the PCCPCH.
My question is how does the UE get the SFN in the first place so that
it can calculate SFN mod 8? How does it know whether the current SFN
is 8 or 16 or 32 or 45 etc.?
