Required Service (5) Assistance with Financial Aid:
TRIO-SSS provides assistance in completing financial aid applications (including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid), information on both the full range of Federal Student Aid programs and benefits (including Federal Pell Grant awards and loan forgiveness) and resources for locating public and private scholarships.
Tracie S. Hope/TRIO Scholarship - NEW This is a two-semester scholarship for full- or part-time students. Applicants must possess and maintain a minimal cumulative 3.0 GPA and must have completed at least one semester and been actively involved in TRIO activities. Applicants must submit a 500 word essay pertaining to their commitment and vision to obtain a master’s degree, with projected goal timeline, beyond WCCCD graduation. Applicants must also be available for an interview with the WCCCD Scholarship Committee. The scholarship recipients are required to maintain a minimal cumulative 3.0 GPA in the first semester in order to receive the second installment of this award. Value: $1,000 ($500 per semester) This is a one-time only scholarship per WCCCD TRIO student.
This is the inaugural year for the TRACIE S. HOPE/TRIO SCHOLARSHIP. This is a very special award honoring the life and spirit of a very special member of our TRIO-SSS family. It was created as part of WCCCD's commitment to assist in providing sufficient financial assistance to meet the full financial need of each student in TRIO-SSS. The TRACIE S. HOPE/TRIO SCHOLARSHIP is one of the ways we assist in maintaining the loan burden of each such student at a manageable level. We are encouraging all qualified TRIO-SSS participants to complete and submit the 2016-2016 Scholarship Application Packet by the deadline of 4:00PM on Friday, April 29, 2016.
