For those that didn't make it today... ya'll missed an excellent ride
today (hope you had a good one instead)!
Craig M, Mike A and I departed from Coldpring at 6:45am....nice temps
with a decent wind from the south (pretty humid...but who can
complain!). Had a super cruise up the eastern shore of Lake
Livingston with the only hiccup being Mike getting a flat on 190 a
couple miles before Onalaska. Quickly fixed and had a short stop at
the Chevron there before blazing a trail to Trinity then over to
Riverside for lunch. Think we were at just under a 21mph ave there
(mile 62). After a Subway break we rode 980 to Point Blank then 190
to 156 and back via 224. Winds died so not much headwind...
Finished at just over 100 miles at 12:40 with a 20.3 mph ave. Not bad
at all for only 3 of us!!!
Everyone rode great....Craig's riding super strong...and
Mike...well.......what do you expect. I felt pretty good too...a bit
tired early only but perked up later. Traffic was pretty
accommodating...always have to watch closely those towing boats/
trailers. Some nice smooth repaving on the eastern side was sure
nice. 190 still sucks (on both sides of the lake).
Looking to do a decent ride next weekend...need to stay away from the
Coldspring area at there's the road race there on Sat.
We haven't done 1374 for a while....so maybe I'll try to put something
together that includes it. I am seriously thinking about a 2 looper
with a primary (first) loop of 60-80 miles that ends at our starting/
parking point and then a second one that would round the total to ~100
miles. That way folks that didn't want to go as long/far could join.
Any traction for this idea?
