“Puppy Watcher’s Pledge”
So wonderful to get an early preview of Misty’s puppies today and see the chat board alive with all the excitement of the new puppies. It also got me reflecting on some of the issues experienced in the past. I know that Explore & Molly have come up with some tools for Misty’s puppies to try and meet the needs of all and I anticipate we’ll be seeing those rolled out with the “countdown” – blog for “Molly Answers Everything” (my name for it - LOL); hopefully a separate place to post the warm, loving & funny stories these pups inspire; and perhaps the “live chat” that was tested earlier in the summer. With that said, the only rule that Molly has asked us all to follow is for our comments to be positive and nice. In thinking about that, I personally feel that I owe Molly and WCC so much more than that. So, here’s my “Puppy Watcher’s Pledge” - feel free to suggest additions or “like” on EPW facebook page if you want to join me in the pledge.
I will be ever mindful and appreciative that Molly has welcomed us into not only her world, but literally, her home and her family. ALL of us.
It’s 2013 and we have a wonderful new litter of puppies to enjoy together. I will let any real or perceived hurts from HHD chat to stay in the past where they belong. I will joyfully share this experience with everyone who comes together to support WCC.
I will be welcoming to newcomers and try and help answer questions and share what I’ve learned about puppies & WCC from Molly. I will be understanding that some of their comments that may seem critical of what they are seeing could simply be a matter of not having had the benefit yet of learning as we did last summer.
I will not be snarky or disrespectful to anyone on this site. I will not go on EPW Facebook page or other site and complain about puppy watchers here. If I feel the need to vent about something, I will do it privately.
I will remember that written words sometimes come across differently than we intended or different than if we were talking in person. I will choose my words carefully. I will not be overly sensitive or offended by what others write.
While I have made some very special friendships here, I will try and avoid “clubiness” in my comments on the site as that may intimidate new folks from joining in. I will be mindful that this site has become a healing, therapeutic place for many and I will try and nurture that good karma. I will remain hopeful that some of our absent puppy watchers/chatters will rejoin this community.
I will remember that Molly is ever watchful over the puppies at all times (literally sleeping next to them!) and will not incite concerns about what I’m seeing on camera (comment maybe, but not raise alarm bells or e-mail Molly).
I will be respectful of the lucky, “OPPs” (official puppy petters for any newbies out there) who will soon be appearing on camera. They are Molly’s invited guests and I will not make personal comments about them or how they handle the puppies - again, Molly is ever watchful. (Exception to this pledge is that it is o.k. to comment how cute KoppyKat looks with the flower in her hair – LOL).
I will not e-mail Molly to ask her to move the camera position or ask her to tell the OPPs to not block the camera view. Molly gets a zillion e-mails, so I’ll refrain from adding mine to her inbox. If I have a question for Molly, I will post them as “QUESTION FOR MOLLY” so they can be captured for upcoming answer blog (or however explore advises us to post questions).
I will remember that Molly has an incredible amount of responsibility ….from raising these new puppies; caring for Mia and Rick; working as the Director of Dog Programs for WCC; overseeing the garage renovation; helping PPs and basically doing everything a non-profit organization needs done. I will do everything in my power to not cause her a minute of stress associated with this chat or puppy cam.
I will remember that as special as this puppy cam is, the true heart and soul of Warrior Canine Connection is its mission to help our American veterans and the needs of the wounded warriors must always come first.
While I’m geographically disadvantaged and will not likely ever be an OPP (darn), I will support WCC in other ways as circumstances allow…. from sharing this site with others; financial contributions; Zazzle purchases (thanks Jessie!); voting in charitable contests; and sending items off WCC’s wishlist on Amazon.com.
Finally, I will remain thankful and appreciative for the blessings, healing, education, friendships and fun that comes with being part of the WCC community! Happy 2013 everyone and hooray for Misty’s Puppies !
