Project title: Regional MOOC Camps on Establishing Academic Writing Centers (Virtual)

Course Description:

Establishing Academic Writing Centers at International Higher Education Institutions MOOC

In this course, participants will learn about the purpose and function of academic writing centers at higher education institutions. They will be introduced to guidelines for establishing and running a writing center in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. In particular, participants will explore models for funding a writing center, best practices for hiring and training staff, writing center policies and procedures, and methods of promoting a writing center’s services.

• MOOC Camp Dates:

o   May 17, 2023 (Opening/Orientation Program)

o   May 18, 2023-June 27, 2023 (MOOC Camp proper – at least 1 virtual MOOC camp session per week, 1-2 hours per MOOC camp session, 3-4 hours per week to complete course work)

o   June 28, 2023 (Closing Program)

• MOOC Camp Times:

Registrants will choose their preferred meeting time(s) from the following:

o   Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time)

o   Thursday, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time)

o   Friday, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time)

o   Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (Philippine Standard Time)

All administrators/instructors who are invested in academic writing at the university level.

Four experienced MOOC camp facilitators from the Philippines will facilitate this virtual MOOC Camp.
