Dear WCAJ Colleagues,
I forward the following message. Please pass it on to anyone you know to whom it might apply.
All the best,

We are three retired writing center directors in the United States, each of whom worked in writing centers for more than thirty years. Inspired by Wendy Bishop’s “You can take the girl out of the writing center, but you can’t take the writing center out of the girl: Reflections on the Sites We Call Centers” (1997), we’re conducting research to see what former directors take from their positions into subsequent jobs or retirement. Our request for people to respond to our survey appears below. Would you be so kind as to post it to any Asian mailing lists or other contacts you may know of? We much appreciate your help!

Are you no longer a writing center director? Have you moved out, moved up, moved on, or retired? If so, we would appreciate your going to
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RCKPVGG
and completing our anonymous survey. We will be sharing the results of our survey at future regional, national and international conferences as well as in a future publication. We appreciate your taking the time to reflect on your own experiences as a writing center director to help current and future writing center directors. If you are willing to offer suggestions or answer follow-up interview questions, please respond at the end of the survey. We hope you enjoy this experience as much as we did completing the survey ourselves.
Also, if you know the email address of former writing center directors at your own or other institutions, could you either send us their email address or forward this message to them.
With great appreciation,
Leigh Ryan(
