Chen Shuang has massively improved the 444 solver used by tnoodle. Generating pruning tables takes a fraction of the time it used to. Try it out! https://github.com/cubing/tnoodle/releases/tag/v0.8.8. I think that all delegates would benefit from this change. How do we feel about pushing out a new official tnoodle?

Thanks,
Jeremy

(bump, +board, +pedro)

v0.8.10 of TNoodle has been released. In addition to the 444 pruning table speedup from v0.8.8, the PDFs now highlight alternating rows of long scrambles. Please see https://github.com/cubing/tnoodle/releases/tag/v0.8.10. Can we make v0.8.10 official?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Fixed a couple of cosmetic bugs and pushed out a 0.8.11: https://github.com/cubing/tnoodle/releases/tag/v0.8.11.

I still don't like that the grey highlights barely cover the lines of text instead of the whole cell, but it's better than before, and I don't have time to improve it.

Apart form that, looks good to me. Board?

We agree to the update if the WRC agrees.
What is it? Announce it on Monday to give people plenty of time to download?

I think Jeremy didn't have time to look at this, but here's an updated version with bigger font for most puzzles: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82143982/TNoodle/TNoodle-WCA-0.8.9-34-g4aa0846.jar

I don't know what you think, but I like it. Less zooming needed, so you can see better with the same amount of images appearing on the screen. And also bigger font when printing scrambles.

Not sure how releasing new versions work, and if it would be possible/good to release 2 versions in consecutive weeks, so maybe this could be delayed until we have tested this update I made.

The fewer releases, the better. I say we wait for Jeremy to approve this other change. If this means delaying the release one week, so be it.

TNoodle originall used to have much larger text for some puzzles. We made it smaller to reduce the potential for being able to peek at it from a distance. I think a tad smaller than Pedro's current change would be good. (For one, the margins at the bottoms of the cells would be better.)

Also, Pedro, did you make sure to guard against cell overflow?

Hey Pedro,

I was not aware you were done with this =). Lets do the standard pull request thing on github, and I'll take a look.

In general, I don't think there should be anything wrong with more releases. The WRC has infrastructure in place to have a "current" version of TNoodle, along with multiple "allowed" versions.

I'll ping this thread once Pedro has created a PR and we've pulled his changes up into cubing/tnoodle.

Thanks all!
Jeremy

Quick update: Pedro has created a pull request on github https://github.com/cubing/tnoodle/pull/181. Unfortunately, the weekend got away from me before I could look at it.

I will try to look at Pedro's code this week, but I'm pretty busy wrapping things up at work. My last day of work is the 20th (this Friday!), and after a busy weekend, I will definitely be able to look at this on the 23rd.

Quick update: I just took a look at Pedro's PR, and commented on it. There are a few issues that still need ironing out. Hopefully we'll have everything cleaned up this week.
