Tomorrow (11/15) is apparently the deadline to fill out the survey on the Washtenaw PEL study:
https://washtenawpel.com. MDOT is tentatively advancing a plan which would convert the outer lanes on Washtenaw (On the segment roughly between US-23 and Hewitt) into "transit priority lanes" exclusively for the use of AAATA buses and right turns. While the plan isn't 100% perfect, it's far, far better than anything I would have expected MDOT to come up with. I would suggest that anybody who seeks a more balanced, safe, and equitable transportation system for Washtenaw County should enthusiastically support it.
I've also heard through the grapevine that MDOT got a fair number of negative comments from random folks on the internet who simply cannot imagine a future in which we dedicate space on our roads to anything other than private automobiles. It would be helpful for MDOT to get lots of positive comments to balance them out!
