This week, the City of Ann Arbor is launching public engagement for its
Ann Arbor Roadway Rightsizing study that will consider safer configurations for Stadium and other similar corridors. However, we have serious concerns about the direction this study is taking - considering "choices" and "tradeoffs" between fast car traffic and other "benefits."
We need all of you to fill out the online survey - and to DEMAND that the city (and its consultants) prioritize the Vision Zero goal we have committed ourselves to, rather than continuing to trade speedier traffic flows for human lives. If possible, please also attend the in-person public engagement sessions:
- November 14th, 2025: Pop-up event at York Food & Drink (1928 Packard St.), 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- November 15th, 2025: Pop-up event at Busch's Fresh Food Market (2020 Green Rd.) 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- December 10th, 2025: Open house at Ann Arbor Downtown Library (343 S. Fifth Ave.) 5 - 7 p.m.
You may also recall that our advocacy earlier this year
won $500,000 in the city budget for "quick build safety projects"; however, 6 months have passed and no plan has been publicly shared for the use of these funds.
Please contact your City Council reps and remind them that we expect these funds to be deployed expediently, and specifically toward making a dangerous corridor like Stadium safer. (You can also email the whole group at
CityC...@a2gov.org).
Thanks again,
- Adam Goodman and Kirk Westphal
