Washtenaw and US-23 ramp hazard

My wife and I use the sidewalk on the north side of Washtenaw, passing under US-23 to get to Hogback several times a week.  Visibility is horrible, especially when cycling east past the US-23 off ramp.  Not to mention that traffic seems to be getting busier all the time.

With the poor visibility and the speed of the cars coming off US-23, there is very little time between seeing an apparent pause in the traffic and getting safely across.  We are in our 70s and not too swift, but I'm sure there are pedestrians who are a lot slower than us even.  I'll see if i can attach a video.  Has anyone brought this issue up with the powers that be?  An ENFORCED lower speed limit, AND cutting/mowing down trees and tall vegetation could make a big difference to reducing fear and protecting life.

I agree that using that path can be scary (especially at night!)

You may be interested to hear that MDOT is planning to redesign and reconstruct the entire interchange sometime in the next 3-4 years, as a "partial cloverleaf":

They expect this design will be safer for people walking and biking, because most of the ramp crosswalks will have stoplights on them. Of course, 3-4 years is still a long time. In the meantime, I'd suggest sending your concerns to MDOT directly, namely:

At the very least, trimming vegetation better certainly seems like something that should be possible.
