Hey team,
I have here two M648 48v power supplies. They are both missing parts and both have fried boards with lifted pads and traces. Im hoping i can make one good supply from what i have here.
One unit is from 1970, the other "75.
Neither look like the schematic in the archive which has a 1983 date.

1) are there schematics for either of these earlier iterations?

2) maybe i dont need to rebuild the pcbs? The literature says that the regulated current is only neccessary when NOT mounting the supply inside of a console, which I am. Can i just bypass the board?

\\m//,
Caleb

I would repair both of them. I recently redone 6 in the same kind of shape. Just repair the traces where needed, replace the cap and put new resistors. The ones that heat the pcb. Install them with ceramic spacers so they stop heating the pcb. You can also use a bit larger resistors so they dissipate heat better.

Caleb Lambert: "Thanks for the schematics! That does seem to describe the older one."

You have to pull it out and get a board number.  More details lead to other details.
