Hi Samar

When I replied I had thought your intention was a committee dinner.

As you have posted it on LinkedIn and you have a lot of other people saying yes does this mean you are organising a general WLAN Xmas dinner?

Confused……….

Hello all! The Alumni Committee is organising an Xmas dinner for sometime around end Nov/ beginning December. We were wondering if other alumni members in London would be interested in joining us for some merriment. What do people think about the idea, would it be something you fancy? Cheers!

Hi Paul
It's primarily a committee dinner, but we are not booking out a place or putting down any deposit down. If anyone from the alumni group wishes to join us, they are more than welcome to by booking their own spot in a perhaps buffet style dinner.

Hope that clears out your confusion.

Regards
Samar

Does anyone have suggestions of places which host good Xmas dinners and charge per person?

I remember Amira and Riz mentioning some restaurants.

Samar

La Porte des Indes was good. Food isn't buffet style which is a plus

Any restaurant at that time of year will want a specific number for booking a table.

If you are inviting the whole alumni community to join the committee for dinner then you need to think about the logistics of how to make a booking and be sure people turn up.

All the best

Paul

The first thing we need to start with is what do you want to pay per head? £50? £40? Then we can select a place and make a deal with them. We can start with a conservative no say like 30?

or maybe if someone can host (sorry, I unfortunately do not have the luxury to host), we could ChefHost (bring a chef home to come cook for us) :P

Cheers,

@Paul - I understand your concerns, you usually put down a deposit if you want to book a private room for an evening. That's not what we're really going for this time around, there are some restaurants which host multiple small parties in one venue where all you need to do is book a place on the table. If we get in the numbers soon enough we can book out a larger area.

@Amira - Yes, I was thinking somewhere around £50/- including a couple of drinks. Do you have any place in mind, I've been scouting around some restaurants and should have an idea by the end of this week .

Regards
Samar
