Did you all get this? Well, I guess all our discussions were moot. I still think this is a major mistake and I’m torn between contributing to the bonfire that will burn up our legacy or….I don’t know what. It’s beyond distressing to me.

Once upon a time….

Celebrating WBRU-FM - now and in the future

Hello fellow past and present WBRUers!

My name is Tucker Hamilton and I just recently graduated from Brown in May. I have worked at WBRU all 4 years of my college career in the production department, and have been in charge of BRU's imaging for the past two years. I am continuing to work at the station this summer and one of my projects is being the Chair for the 95.5 Send Off Committee. This committee's plan is to create special programming and audio productions to commemorate WBRU's history and to celebrate the station's accomplishments.

My plan, as of now, is to collect any old projects, DJ recordings, interviews, commercials, any audio related to WBRU throughout the years! I will collect all of this history, catalogue it and archive it with a number of goals in mind. the goals are to celebrate the rich history of WBRU-FM, both on 95.5 FM and on other developing platforms, and to ensure continuity between the long-standing workshop on FM and any other projects that will be emerging on a number of platforms in the future. I am hoping to build an appropriate archive that can provide a permanent library of WBRU-related materials.

All the material sent to me, whether analog or digital, will be archived digitally and will be saved on the platforms the committee and station agrees are the best spaces. This could be anything from a section on the existing WBRU website, a separate website dedicated to the history of WBRU, on Soundcloud, etc. If you do send analog material, such as tapes or reels, I have the means to have the content digitized and the material will be returned to you. I want you to share your experiences with the rest of BRU and others, while also being able to keep what treasures you kept from your station days.

This is where I need all of you! If you have any recordings or anything WBRU related that you think should be highlighted please send it all to me. A big part of this project is the cooperation of all WBRUers and making sure that their time at the station is remembered. So please send me any audio you have. In addition to the audio, if anyone has any questions or suggestions for the send off project please let me know. My email for the summer will be tucker_...@alumni.brown.edu. Also, I will be connected on Slack for this specific project so if you want to get more involved with the project ask for the details on that!

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Thanks,
Tucker
