Hi, fellow WBRU alumni,

It’s happening one week from today: THURSDAY, MAY 3rd at The Outer Space in Hamden, CT (just north of New Haven). My band, ROB CARLSON & BENEFIT STREET is doing a rare weekday gig, and if you are or will be in New England, I’d love to see a bunch of my radio friends there. It will be a really nice set of original folk/rock/country/Americana music mixed with some comedy.

There are three artists playing, beginning at 7:30; we’re on second, starting sometime between 8:00 and 9:00, so you can come, have a good time, and still be up early for work on Friday!

About the Outer Space: http://www.theouterspace.net. It’s at 295 Treadwell Street, Hamden, CT, a little south of the Rt. 10 exit of the Wilbur Cross Pkwy.

LATE NEWS UPDATE: I will be interviewed (pre-recorded) by Steve Savino on WQUN between 4-6pm on his afternoon show on Monday, April 30th. Tune into WQUN AM 1220 in Hamden, or listen on-line at www.wqun.com.

Many of you know me from our time together at WBRU or from when I played with Rob in the original Benefit Street (or both). Between the two Benefit Streets, Rob (Brown ’70), spent a dozen years with Modern Man, the folk-comedy trio, which included David Buskin ’65. You may also remember Carlson & Gailmor, Rob’s 1976 duet album on Polydor which has become a cult classic. I play keyboards in the group, along with string wizard Vin Pasternak (Folks Together) and drummer Sam Carlson (Ports of Spain, Winter White). Trust me, I’m really proud of this band – or I wouldn’t be in it.

Hear our new CD at: http://robcarlsonandbenefitstreet.bandcamp.com. If you’re on the air and your station might play our music, I’d be happy to send a CD if you don’t have one already.

See you next Thursday,

Paul Payton ‘69
