Subject: Thriving Kids Sector consultations - Expression of Interest now open

OFFICIAL

Dear all,

As you may be aware, following from the online sector briefing held on Thursday 7 May 2026, the Department of Communities is looking to engage further with the sector to:

·       gather sector insights to inform the service design and delivery approach for Thriving Kids supports

·       understand sector preparedness, capability and capacity, including workforce considerations, service gaps and operational needs

·       ensure the model is designed to meet the needs of children, families and communities across WA, including those in priority groups and locations.

Communities has engaged an independent consultant to partner in undertaking this consultation process. These consultation findings, along with the market sounding survey, and additional community consultations will inform implementation planning for Thriving Kids supports ahead of rollout commencement from 1 October 2026.

Next steps

Service providers are invited to attend sector consultations, planned to occur over a 6-week engagement period in June 2026:

·       In-person town-halls (about 2.5 hours) to inform the service design and understand sector preparedness in Perth metropolitan, Broome, Bunbury, Geraldton and Kununurra.

·       An online town-hall (about 2 hours) for remaining regions and those who cannot or prefer not to attend the in-person town-halls.

·       An online webinar (about 1.5 hours) to share insights from the consultations, and to test and refine the insights.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the short form below by Tuesday, 2 June 2026, 5PM AWST.
