Hi All,
Below/attached is some info from Eating Disorders Families Australia for those experiencing eating disorders.
They offer a telehealth service.
There is also the SWAN Centre located in Busselton that provides face to face services and I have attached their info also.
This clinic consists of psychologists and a dietician.
As I understand it, the client will need a referral from their GP who can also do an Eating Disorder Care Plan - Care Plan document (attached) which entitles clients to access the service with Medicare billing included although there is also a gap payment, plus they also accept private health.
The client can then get up to 20 dietician apts and 40 psychologist sessions over a 12mth period, which are normally once per week initially and then stretch out from there.
They are then reviewed after first 10 sessions, assessed on their progress and then the next 10 sessions become available etc.
The psychologist works closely/collaboratively with the clients GP and the dietician throughout the treatment process.
They can also offer telehealth services in between required in person visits which is great for those in rural areas.

The clinics contact details:

I hope this information is helpful.

Warm Regards,

Hi there,
I would like to provide some brief information about our organisation, Eating Disorders Families Australia, as I am unsure if your clinicians are aware of what we can offer for carers/parents. We provide online education, support, advocacy and counselling to those who are caring for someone who is experiencing an eating disorder. At the moment we do not have a waitlist for counselling and can provide support to carers with little to no wait time, with no fee. I understand our presence is lacking in WA, hence why I am reaching out. I am also very passionate about providing more support in regional and rural areas. I am available to provide further information if needed, I will attach our brochure. Thank you for your time.
Warm regards,
Alisha Mah

While it suits me to email you now, I do not expect a response or action outside of your own working hours. EDFA acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. I acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people on whose lands I live and work.
We are proud to be the national voice of those caring for someone with an eating disorder. We understand and respect that everyone’s journey is different, and we take an unbiased approach to treatment, clinicians, and pathways of care.
