Hi All,

Please see below info re MH directory for Older Adults, it’s a downloadable PDF document that is very concise.

The free online training they offer is also very good and highly recommend it.

Thanks,

Warm Regards,

We're pleased to present our 90-page Free and Affordable Mental Health Services Directory.

A quarter of Australians aged 65 or older live below the poverty line, which makes accessing mental health services challenging. This directory will make it easier to find and access mental health services that are free or low-cost.

We hope you find it useful. To access it, click the button below.

Free Suicide Prevention for Seniors Training

Would you know what to do if an older person you're supporting has thoughts of suicide? The training is underpinned by evidence and will give you:

  • Practical strategies to have a conversation with empathy.
  • Teach you skills to determine whether the person is having thoughts of suicide.
  • Support the person with a safety plan and referral.
  • Teach you about the common causes of suicidal behaviour and particular issues surrounding suicide in older adults including risk and protective factors.

Training completed in 3 hours over Zoom in groups of up to 25. This program is QIP accredited meeting all Suicide Prevention Australia standards.

If you haven't already completed this training, we encourage you to sign up, or tell a friend about it. If you have completed it over 6 months ago, you're welcome to sign up for a refresher.

When Yolanda Couchman signed up for the course, little did she know that she would put her knowledge into action 2 hours later to save a life.
