Role:                           Software Engineer Full Stack with Python expertise

Location:                     Remote

Job Type:                   Contract

No H1B and OPT 

As an engineer on our team, you will:

• Collaborate with stakeholders and engineers to develop our next-generation emissions visualization platform
• Build a responsive, data-driven web application with an emphasis on geospatial data
• Develop and maintain backend services including RESTful APIs and event-driven systems for real-time data processing
• Build scalable frontend components with modern state management and styling frameworks
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data privacy controls across the application stack
• Integrate with cloud services and message queues to handle high-volume spatial data workflows
• Ensure applications are optimized for containerized deployment in AWS infrastructure
• Take full ownership of features from technical design through production deployment
• Establish development best practices and testing strategies for a greenfield codebase
• Expect a 70/30 distribution on backend/frontend design and development time

About You:

• You have 8+ years of industry experience as a Full Stack developer with a proven track record of building scalable applications
• You're experienced with modern frontend frameworks, particularly React and Next.js, with strong TypeScript skills
• You have extensive experience building backend APIs using Python, especially FastAPI
• You're comfortable working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and have experience with SQL
• You have experience with modern CSS frameworks and component-based styling approaches
• You understand RESTful API design principles and have worked with event-driven architectures
• You have experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS services and containerized deployment
• You're familiar with geospatial data concepts and have experience building mapping or location-based applications
• You have experience with modern state management patterns and API integration in frontend applications
• You understand authentication and authorization patterns in web applications and can reliably implement them
• You are a self-starter who can architect solutions from the ground up and transform requirements into production-ready applications
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code is fundamental to your approach

 

 

Standout qualities:

• You have experience building map tile servers and implementing efficient tiling strategies for geospatial web applications
• You have built data integration platforms and APIs that connect with third-party vendor systems and external data sources
• You have experience developing data platforms as products, including customer-facing APIs and SDKs for external consumption
• You are comfortable establishing testing frameworks and CI/CD workflows from scratch, including integration with automated deployment pipelines
• You have experience with feature flagging systems and embedded analytics platforms like PostHog for product monitoring and experimentation
• You have experience with observability tools and implementing monitoring strategies for production applications
